Dlls corrupt or missing

My Averatec 3200 laptop has recently developed a problem. I noticed my
Ad Aware wouldn't complete a system scan. It locked up at:
HKEY_Local_Machines\Software." I figured I'd uninstall it, reinstall it, and
try again. I'm getting an error message: "Could not initialize installation.
System DLLs corrupt or missing. Access is denied. Tried to download Spy
Sweeper, got the message: Internal Error: Failed to load DLL
C:\DOCUME~1\MIKE\LOCALS\TEMP\is-1T8L6.tmp\_isdecmp.dll" Also, it will not do
a system resore. Get message: "Restore Incomplete." One more thing, when
try to load Flight Sim 2004, get: "Load Library (~df394b.tmp) specified
module could not be found." I'm not all that computer savvy, should I take
it to someone who knows what their doing??? Advice appreciated

Download MULTI_AV.EXE from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Multi_AV.exe

To use this utility, perform the following...
Execute; Multi_AV.exe { Note: You must use the default folder C:\AV-CLS }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

Execute; C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT
{ or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS }

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your
FireWall to allow it to download the needed AV vendor related files.

C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT -- { or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS}
This will bring up the initial menu of choices and should be executed in Normal Mode.
This way all the components can be downloaded from each AV vendor's web site.
The choices are; Sophos, Trend, McAfee, Kaspersky, Exit this menu and Reboot the PC.

You can choose to go to each menu item and just download the needed files or you can
download the files and perform a scan in Normal Mode. Once you have downloaded the files
needed for each scanner you want to use, you should reboot the PC into Safe Mode [F8 key
during boot] and re-run the menu again and choose which scanner you want to run in Safe
Mode. It is suggested to run the scanners in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode.

When the menu is displayed hitting 'H' or 'h' will bring up a more comprehensive PDF help
file. http://www.ik-cs.com/multi-av.htm

Thank you so much for taking the time to post the directions. I'll probably
have to wait until next week to perform the process as it sounds beyond my
capability. I'll get one of the gurus at work to help me.

I am always suspicious of these missing dll messages. Before "believing" and
using 3rd party software as is often prompted, I recommend you select
run/cmd then type sfc scannow (with your installation disk in the cd/dvd
drive. Files that are missing or do not check out properly in your windows
installation can be repaired/replaced.

Some spurious sites offer downloads of operating system specific dll files
and these are actually modified and will contaminate your security.

Thanks for that. I don't have a Windows installation disk. Three disks
came with the laptop. The only option with them is to restore it back like
it came out of the box, unless I'm missing something, which is not outside
the realm of possibility!!!!

Try this:
Ad-Aware freezes while performing a scan.
There are a number of possible reasons behind this problem. To correct:
a.. First, update to Build 1.06 and download the latest definition file if
you have not done so.
b.. Second, it is highly recommended that you run a disk defragmentation
on your computer, then a thorough "Check" or "Scan Disk" depending on your
Windows version. Try scanning in safe mode.
c.. Third, start Ad-Aware scan from the Windows command line. Do as
follows:
a.. Click "Start", then "Run". Next, type the text shown below
(including the quotation marks and with the same spacing as shown) for your
version of Ad-Aware SE:
"C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Professional\Ad-Aware.exe" /full
+procnuke
"C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Plus\Ad-Aware.exe" /full
+procnuke
"C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware SE Personal\Ad-Aware.exe" +procnukep
b.. Click "OK".
c.. Note: The path above (between the quotes) is the default location of
Ad-Aware SE. If you installed your Ad-Aware to a different directory, adjust
the path accordingly. For Ad-Aware SE Personal, when the GUI launches, click
"Start", then "Full System Scan". Click "Next", then "OK".
d.. When the scan is complete, select "Next". In the "Scanning Results"
window, select the "Scan Summary" tab. Check the box next to each "target
family" you wish to remove, then click "Next", then OK".
d.. If you still have problems, cancel before the scan reaches the point
of stalling -- for example, after 20 objects are detected. Click "Cancel" on
your log file. Remove any objects you want and rescan. Again, stop the scan
before it reaches the point of stalling and remove any additional objects.
Then try a full scan without stopping it. This should work for you now.
After you complete these steps you should delete the contents of your temp
folder and defragment.

To delete temp folder contents you should first enable the Show hidden Files
and Folder option in Tools, Folder Options, View tab in Windows Explorer.
Then click Start > Run type| %temp% |in the box and click ok. In the temp
folder click Edit > Select All > Then Click File and Delete.

To run check disk or defragment click Start > My Computer > right click C:\
drive and under Tools choose the action you want to perform.

You should scan for viruses also.
