distorted picture

When i log into windows and click onto my icon to connect me to the internet the screen colours go all distorted and strange looking, once connection has been made, it returns to normal. can anyone help?

Set the number of color to more than 256.
Right click the desktop / Properties / Settings tab.
Increase the number of color in the "Color quality section"
