dissapering photos

A couple of days ago I was responding to an email. When I
closed my mail over half of my shortcuts were gone from
my desktop. I used the system restore and my shortcuts
returned. When I went to open some photo files I found
that they were gone. The only photos I have left are in
My Pictures. Every thong else is gone. What happened to?
them. Can I get them back? This has happened once before.
Can any one help?

If no done already, do a Start-->Search for all files of the type of your
photos (extension of JPG most likely)

or look in the Recycle Bin

If unsuccessful, then we can explore recovery programs.
