I can't increase the resolution from 800*600 to 1025*768, when I do it screen
flickers for some time and goes back again to 800*600. Help will be greatly
appreciated.

Either your monitor cant support that resolution or it can, but not at
the refresh rate you are trying to set.

No, NoName.

If you tell us the make and model of your computer (or your motherboard,
display adapter and monitor if you built it yourself), someone here might
recognize it and give you some solid tips. Otherwise, we're just guessing.
All we can do is give you the standard advice: make sure you have and are
using the latest drivers for your specific hardware.

too much information?

Hi, NoName.
too much information?

No. You still haven't told us about your video card - and which driver you
are using for it.

Perhaps that is academic. Is your computer a standard HP model? I'm not
familiar with that SiS chipset; does it have integrated graphics? Even
someone familar with your hardware might not recognize it from what you've
posted so far.

You've told us about the monitor, and that's good info. But the problem you
first reported is almost certainly related to your graphics hardware and the
drivers for it. And you still haven't told us much about that. Even your
Subject line says "display setting", which relates primarily to your video
driver. The other info is useful, but it does not focus on your problem.
