Avoid relocation of icons after switching to a lower screen resolution

Hi,

When I switch to a lower screen resolution, e.g. from 1024*768 to 800*600,
the icons whose coordinates are outside 800*600 screen, are always
relocated. Is there any way to prevent this?

Thanks a lot.

When I right click on Icons on the Desktop I see two options that say 'Save
Desktop Icons" and "Restore Desktop Icons" that has worked to me. Do you
have these options?

No, I don't see them. When I rightclick on the desktop a menu appears with
the items "Arrange icons by", "New", "properties", "paste" etc. And when I
right on a icon I see a menu depending on the kind of icon. For example, the
menu of My computer differs from a shortcut etc.

Perhaps I'm not clear: I'm talking about the icons on the desktop, they are
moved/relocated after lowering the screen resolution. Try it, and see what
happens!
