Display Resolution Changes

V

Vic

Suddenly, my display resolution changes to 800 x 600
every time I reboot. I change it back to 1024 x 768, nut
it reverts back to 800 x 600 every time I reboot.

I don't know if there is a connection, but the only
change that I am aware of having made was a recent
installation of Roxio Easy CD/DVD 6.

Any ideas ??

Thanks

Sounds like a driver problem, try Windows Update, or
contact your computer's tech support, or look on thier
website.

Hi Kelly -

This has been happening for about a week. I've checked
all the drivers for updates, have all the Win XP updates
and have performed mult virus scans of the system, all
without success.

Appreciate any help !

Thanks

Hi Vic,

Again how recent was the install of Roxio 6? Same time frame? If so, have
you tried removing the software to see if the behavior changes?

In the meantime, see if one of Doug's utilities help:

Hi Kelly -

I've Uninstalled and reinstalled graphic card fron
Nvidia. All Windows Updates and Patches are installed.
I've even tried changing the refresh rate to 85 Hertz.
All is well for that session, but everything resizes on
reboot and restart.

Problem started within a week of installing Roxio 6.

Perhaps you have your monitor's refresh rate set too high for what it
can handle at 1024x768. Lower the monitor's refresh rate. Also, you
didn't say which Nvidia card you have - perhaps you have it set to
32-bit color and that's too high for it. Try setting it to 16-bit (not
16 colors!) at a lower refresh rate.

Please keep posts about one subject in *one* thread. I just posted an
answer to your question in another thread. That is quite a high refresh
rate. Trying lowering it to 70 or 75. If Roxio was the cause, you would
have seen an immediate response, not problems a week later. Your video
card or your monitor may be dying.

Log in to the Administrator account, change Resolution &
Refresh there. Log off and then into your normal account
and see if the display settings remain "Sticky".
