Display problem

Richard Oliver

I am running WinXP Home Ed.
I have a Samsung SyncMaster 793s monitor.
The latest drivers are installed.
There is a double dark bar effect on the lefthand side of the screen and
this seems to be reproduced on photographs that are loaded from my
camera and then saved to disk---
Any ideas please ? Richard

I must assume that your images are displayed on the left side of your
screen, the same side as the dark bar is.

It could be that a backlight bulb in your monitor is failing, and you
should take it to repairs.

I don't know, of course, how old your monitor is, but in my experience the
monitor is usually what first fails in computers, regardless of the usage.

The monitor is only about 10 mths old so I will take it in today.
thank you very much for your help.

Hows this for a quick repair ??
Took the monitor down for repair and as they did not have a loan machine
I decided to use it as is until I could get a monitor to use.
Took it back home , plugged it in and---a beautiful clear screen !!!!
Its a Samsung and only seven months old so I will watch it and have it
checked before the warranty expires.
wish me luck --Richard

Seven months -- yes that *is* a little early for something to break down,
even by today's standards. ;-)

Glad to hear, however, that your monitor is performing well again, and I
hope it will continue to do so. And I'm sorry, then, if I sent you on a
fool's errand.

Not a fool's errand--just another step on the learning curve !!!
I really do appreciate the effort you chaps go to,to help us folks !!!
That in turn helps us to help others !!!
Kindest regards,Richard
