| || Do you mean how do you open another's webpage with FP?:
||
|| If you are using IE to surf, browse to a site you want to open, then on
| your
|| top tool bar you should see a button Edit With Frontpage (something like
|| that)...push it. If you get prompts for un/pw just push Cancel. The page
| you
|| are browsing should open in FP... (most of it will anyway).
||
||
|| ||| Thanks for the encouragement. I do have a lot to learn, hopefully I'm
up
|| to
||| the task.
||| I don't understand tables but I'll look into it..
||| How do I see a webpage in FP? I can choose "view source" but only see
|| lots
||| of code I don't understand and it's in notepad. How do I get to FP?
||| Thanks,
||| Don...........

I'm still here and I'm going to try to work on the table and create what
you've suggested. I'll let you know sometime tomorrow how I've made out.
Thanks again for all your help.

Another question. Can I send you the new page I'm working on just like I
would send you any other type of file? I think I've got what you were
asking, although I think the logo might be bigger than you looked at
earlier. I've viewed it in the browser and the page looks pretty good. Not
sure if it's constructed properly.

Another question. Can I send you the new page I'm working on just like I
would send you any other type of file?

You can upload it to your server just like any other page (or
"publish" it or whatever the fancy name for the process is).
Eventually it is going to be called index.htm, or default.htm or
whatever is required by the server. Call it what you like for now,
until it is ready to go.
I think I've got what you were
asking, although I think the logo might be bigger than you looked at
earlier. I've viewed it in the browser and the page looks pretty good. Not
sure if it's constructed properly.

If it looks OK in a browser, you're on the right track. Put the page
online and tell us the URL.

To arrive at my estimates of the sizes of the logo and buttons all I
did was save the image and chop it up into pieces. I cropped fairly
close to the shadowy edges of the logo.

If you have made the logo bigger, the only thing to beware of is that
if your right-hand table cell is 603 pixels wide, the absolute maximum
width of the logo is 593px (to allow for the 5px cell padding).

It will probably look better if the logo is comfortably less than
603px.

Note that if you did make the logo bigger than the width available for
it, the table would stretch to accommodate it, but taking liberties
with table widths is a bad habit. You'd only be storing up troubles
for yourself later.

Okay I know how to publish I'm just not sure how to direct you to the
page it's on. I think what I'll do is create a link on the already existing
home page, Look for the word "Test". Click on it and it will take you to
this new page I've designed. It's below the "email" button. It's a
hyperlink. I don't suppose there are too many people who will visit the
site so it shouldn't be a problem for a day or so. I'll take the link down
after you've looked at it.
I do like the design of the new page better than the existing one, even
though they have the same basic look and objects.
Do you have any suggestions for the other pages? I'm going to do the same
thing to the "Gourds" page as I've done to this one, new logo, buttons, etc.
Let me ask you about my "Let's Be Friends" path. The first page is just
a jpg that I created in Photodraw. It's a collage of photos from a concept
I had about an album cover from years ago (I'm a musician of sorts:). Do
you think the "Primary Musicians" page (LBFpg2) is okay? How about the page
where the music files are on (LBFPg3)?
Thanks again and look for the word "test".

Yes, it's coming along fine! Although my original suggestion was to
make a centred outer table with a two-cell table nested inside it,
your solution will be OK if you're not intending to have any more
content on this page.

Some minor suggestions at this point:

1. As your buttons are indeed larger than the ones I cut from your
original image, you need to make the right-hand nav-bar cell wider. As
you can see, it has stretched itself to accommodate the larger
buttons, but as your buttons are 204px wide, you should either make
the cell 214px wide, or crop the buttons tighter, OR BOTH. Whatever
you do, make the cell width equal to the button width plus 10px for
the padding.

2. Leave the cell padding at 5px but you can set the cell spacing to
zero.

3. You can also crop the surplus green from around the logo. At the
moment, the contents of the table are stretching it to slightly more
than the specified width of 720. (732, I think, because you haven't
included the padding and the spacing in your calculations.)

4. You don't need to specify a height in this case. You might want to
add more text at some stage, and it will simply stretch the height if
it needs more room. The bottom edge of the table is invisible anyway
so it won't show if the content doesn't fill the height you specified.
Do you have any suggestions for the other pages? I'm going to do the same
thing to the "Gourds" page as I've done to this one, new logo, buttons, etc.

That's good. If you get the front page right in all respects you can
use it as a template for subsequent pages.

I haven't explored the other pages at this stage.

I don't think I'll be adding anymore to this page. I will probably upload
the newer version sometime today.

A couple of questions.
I've been trying to cut the size of the page itself but so far I haven't
been able to. The logo and buttons only take a little bit of room but I'm
left with a larger amount of green space below the logo and buttons. The
scroll bar on the right is visible but unless I put more on the page I don't
think I need the rest. How do I make the page so the scroll bar is gone?

Question 2:
I have some music files on the last (?) page. If you follow the links from
Favorite Sites to Let's Be Friends the last page has the song titles that
I've posted. When you hover your mouse over the song title a picture swap
should occur. It should show the credits of who played on that particular
song. While hovering you should also be able to click on the credits and
the song should play. On my computer at home this all works well, and for
most people I believe. However there area some people who, while hovering,
can't see the credits, can't play the song, or both. Is there something I
can do to make that happen all the time for everyone?
Thanks again,
Don.........

remove the empty paragraphs after your table.

Thanks,
I feel dumb, I should have been able to figure that one out.
But, here's another thing that has me puzzled. Some of my hyperlinks aren't
blue, some are, but some are not. I've been trying different things but so
far haven't been able to discover what causes that. Can you help?
Thanks again,
