display name

My display name for messenger is my e-mail address and it
is greyed out so I cant change it ( under
messenger/options).
Right below that it says dont use your e-mail address.
How can I change it?

Greetings Jim,

It is grayed out because you have not verified your .NET Passport. In order to solve this,
you'll need to click on the verification link in the verification e-mail that will be sent to
you from Passport services after you sign up. If it's already been 48-hours since you signed
up and you have no received the e-mail, or you delete or never received it, simply request
another one from Passport Services here:
