Display Issues

Using an NVidia GeForce FX 5200, most recent drivers.
The display has flickering black lines through it and occassionally it looks
like the monitor is behind a waterfall (literally - it'd make a good
screensaver, if it wasn't my problem).
This has happened with 3 monitors. I have asked NVidia, but they have no
further suggestions, so I am asking if anyone else out there has any ideas?

Hi: Looks like it is not a fault from the monitor after testing 3 units.
Check the video cable, if you used the same in all the test, and try a new
Vdeo card if you ave the chance.

I hope it helps,

All the monitors can with their own inbuilt, non-removable cables. And I
don't have any other similar cards.

If you are not able to substitute suspected defective parts, you can not
trouble shoot effectively. Take the computer to a technician who has what is
needed.

NVidia GeForce FX 5200 is "economy card", in this case you may consider
replacing it.

That's the nVidia Smear of Doom. You need a new card.

SGS: I, too, have an NVidia GeForce FX card (5600). Recently, connected to
my new HDTV (Samsung) to use with my PC as a second monitor. Before
connecting the card to the TV, I was instructed (in bold 'red') to update my
NVidia drivers. I did so and when I went to Media Center I can see it on
both monitors. When I tried to exit Media Center, both monitors display
brilliant blue, green and other colored stripes over the entire display.
Then, I have to do a hard shutdown that I am very reluctant to do. In my
search I discovered that you can bring back the old drivers for your card. I
have done so and have had no further problems. If you do install a new card,
please post your experience and tell us if it solved your problem. If you
discover an easier and quicker remedy, let us know.
