changing screen resoluion on only one monitor

I just picked up a used Dell P1110 (21" monitor) to use with my Viewsonic
PF790 (19" monitor). I'd like to run the Dell at its stated max capacity,
1800 x 1440 at 75 Hz, so that windows will be rendered on it at a relatively
similar physical size as those on the PF790 (running at 1600X1200). However,
my display driver (NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200) doesn't offer the higher
resolution as a choice in the Display Propoeries dialog.

Any ideas how I could get the P1110 running at the higher resolution?

Thanks in advance.

Assuming that the monitor supports the higher resolutions, what
governs the resolution you can run at (actually resolution times
color depth) is the amount of video memory you have. You can try
lowering the color depth, but if you can't find a setting you
like, you may need another video card with more memory (or
upgrade the memory on the one you have, if possible).

Thanks for the quick response. Neither changing the color quality nor the
refresh rate make any difference in my choices. It's informative that I can
increase the resolution of the PF790 several 'notches' still.

How do I determine my video memory?

Thanks for your help!

A possible way or getting round your problem would be to update your driver
for the monitor and graphics card (for free) try the appropriate website for
your grpahics card, eg. www.nvidia.com etc.

I'm sorry,

I can't think of any other ways to fix your problem.

Hope I can be of some assistance later on in life, if you have got any other
problems,

Daniel
