Disk System Read Error

System was running, shut down (had to shut power off), next time turned on -
recieved error message. unable to get to safe mode. hangs and returns to disk
read error. How do i restore system.
 
unable to access backup.

system error reads - non-system disk error, replace and press any key when
ready.
 
nothing in drives.
tried to run windows repair - hangs at start.
cannot access safe mode. jumps to A drive, states start up files skiped
screen now reads - disk read error
unable run windows repair
 
Download the disk diagnostic utilities from the hard drive manufacturer's
web site. It sounds like a bad hard drive.
