disk drive is not working

I got an ipod for christmas and recently installed itunes, now my disc drive
doesn't work. A friend told me to uninstall itunes! this makes using both
impractical and time consuming. Does anyone know of a way around this. ps I
have vista

How do you KNOW your "disk drive is not working"? Are you posting this from
your computer? If so, then your disk drive is very DEFINITELY working.
