Disk does not contain a Windows-XP Compatible partition

Hi,

I have 2 partitions on my hard drive. I deleted one of the partitions and
plan to install windows xp on the deleted partition. However it gave me this
error message saying, this disk does not contain a Windows XP-compatible
partition. However I do not want to delete the other partition as I have
important files on that drive.

The 2nd partition on the drive was made using Norton Partition Magic.

I wasnt able to continue installing because windows cannot create a new
partition on the drive. Pls help.

Thank you.

Boot with your XP CD, delete the partition you created with PM, then
create a new partition for XP as part of the setup process.
But if it were me I would put the HDD into another system and
get the wanted data off before doing anything -just in case...
