Disk Cleanup

When I use Disk Cleanup the box pops up telling me it is preparing to
compress old files and it may take a few minutes. There are never any old
files to compress. Other XP computers pop right up with the box showing the
files to be deleted if you choose to do so. How do I get rid of the delay on
compressing old files?
