is there any way to restore compress old files to disk cleanup
If someone removed it in the registry, you can re-add it. But why would you?
I don't recommend it - see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812248.
Removing that "feature" is one of the first things I do when I set up a new
PC. It slows down disk cleanup, and I don't like file compression - slows
down the PC. Hard drives are cheap - if I'm running that low on space I'd
get another one (either as a replacement or as a secondary drive). And, if I
really truly wanted to compress files or a data folder, I'd do it manually.
