every time I try to run disk cleanup it hangs up. When I
look at the task manager it says program is running but it
is not doing anything. I let it run for 5 hours and still
it does nothing but indicate that it is calculating space.

Help Please

I am cannot promise if this will work but it's worth a try.

On your keyboard, press Ctrl, Alt and delete. Under Applications omit the
components by selecting 'End Task.'

Do not select 'End Task' where the following are showing. For example:

Your Internet Service Provider. For example, mine is:

AOL

Leave too the following if they show:

Explorer
Systray

Now try the 'Disk cleanup' feature and it should work.

If not, then you could try programs, system tools and disk fragementer.
Then try running disk cleanup.

On a final note, if this works for you, then you may like to contact me on:

Hi Lou,

Disk Cleanup freezes during the Compressed File Phase: This edit corrects
the problem:

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
