Disk Cleanup

I attemped a 'Disk Cleanup' and let it run for over 24
hours and it did not complete. I finally ended the
program. Now computer is extremly slow.

i feel like an idiot but i can't figure out how to perform that "tip". what
does all this mean?:

1. Copy / Paste the following to a DeleteOldFiles.reg file:
REGEDIT
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VolumeCaches\Compress old files]

2. Merge the DeleteOldFiles.reg file with your registry or run regedit /s
DeleteOldFiles.reg.
