Disk Cleanup Question

In Disk Cleanup, what exactly is the result if you choose "Compress Old
Files". Anything I might regret?

Unless you are pressed for disk space, un-check the box. From what I
understand, compressing files in that manner can cause problems when you
need to access those files. Clean-up is only listing what it "thinks" you
really don't need to have at ready access.

Best to not choose that option.

No, you should be fine, when you access the files, it will
auto-decompress for you before opening them.

BTW, NEVER compress boot files such as NTLDR, NTDETECT.COM or BOOT.INI
as your system will not boot.
