Disk Cleanup Question-Compress Old Files

Does anyone know what files it compresses or if theres a way to actually
view the files that it wants to compress? Thanks.
 
This is a poor MS user interface issue. The process makes it appear
that the files are going to be compressed automatically. However,
only the file dates are examined to determine if the files are old and
COULD BE compressed. A list of the files with checkboxes is presented
when the time comes to compress them. You can skip compression
altogether.
