DISK CLEANUP HANGS

I have tried numerous times to rum the DISK CLEANUP.
(letting it run overnight) It hangs on "SCANNING
COMPRESSED FILES".
Is there anything that I can do to remedy this problem,
manually or otherwise?

Line 48, Right column "Disk Cleanup - Compress..."
Save on Desktop.
Double click the icon once downloaded.
The icon can then be discarded.
