Disk Cleanup Hanging

I just had to reload WinXP Pro. When I run Disk Cleanup it
hangs. I get 4 bars of progress and then it stops
(running CPU usage up to 99%) and does not cancel from
the icon button. I have to kill it with an end process.

Does anyone know of this problem?

Usually it hangs while compressing old files,for the fix,go to search
at microsoft,type:812248

Line 48, Right column "Disk Cleanup - Compress..."
Save on Desktop.
Double click the icon once downloaded.
The icon can then be discarded.

Same thing happening to me and I can't figure it out. I
have tried everything that Microsoft as to offer. Help
also!!!

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer
yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by right clicking on the
file and selecting Edit.
