XP Disk Cleanup

Running XP on a Dell 8200. Ran Disk Cleanup on my D
(data) partition...no problem. Tried to run it on C
partition and it hangs up. Task Manager shows
cleanmgr.exe running and the CPU at 100%...heats up..fan
on high...stays this way for 20 minutes +. When I cancel
or end task in task manager Disk Cleanup goes away however
it keeps running. Tried Restarting and it still does not
stop. Only way to stop it is to cold boot.

My C partition has 7 gigs used and 18 free. Defragged
it...still no help.

Ideas? Thanks.

Line 48, Right column "Disk Cleanup - Compress..."
Save on Desktop.
Double click the icon once downloaded.
The icon can then be discarded.

thanks...I tried Kellys earlier...saw the fix however
could not get to the download page...must be down.
