Disk Cleanup uses 97-99% cpu and hangs system

I have been unable to complete a disk cleanup on my
laptop. When I set the disk cleanup to process - it hangs
at the compressing files. When I check the processes in
task manager is shows that it takes up over 97% of the
cpu. I left the process to run over night and it did not
complete and had not moved in over 6 hours.
Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this issue?

I had the same problem as LG.
I used Ted's suggested link at:
