Disk Cleanup Freeze/Cancel/Slow Response!

As soon as the Disk Cleanup window opens it freezes -
nothing, no disk whirring, zilch! So after a while I
cancel, from then on everything takes over 30 seconds to
open, the only cure for the slowness is a reboot. How
long can the PC survive without a disk cleanup?
Am Defragmenting every day and have noticed an out of
position file build up in the defrag/analyze view.
Thanks for any help.
P.S. Is it the parasite scum that's causing so many prob's
as I also have the Search Assistant and Quick Launch
minor irritant?

Have you ever opened Disk Cleanup and let it run for an hour or more?

Have you ever deleted TIF via IE Tools>Internet Options>General>Delete
files?

Have you ever clicked on the Analyze button in the Defrag window? Is a
defrag recommended?

Save on Desktop.
Double click the icon once downloaded.
The icon can then be discarded.
