Disk Cleanup doesn't compress old files! Please Help!

Recently my Disk Cleanup displays 801,000 kb of old files
that can be compressed. When I say ok to perform the
compression it seems to go through the process, but when
I recheck it displays 801,000 kb of old files that can be
compressed. It has been working fine until just recently.
Anybody have the same problem or answers?
