Disk Boot Failure: Installing new DVD drive

G

Guest

I have a laptop and recently purchased a Pioneer DVR-K05 DVD-RW to replace
the old CD-RW. The problem is a strange one. When I install the drive
whilst the laptop is switched off I get the "Disk Boot Failure, Insert System
Disk And Press Enter" message when I power up. If I install the drive whilst
windows is running it is detected and functions fine even after a restart.
Why is the system stable until I switch off, and what can I do to resolve the
problem?

Laptop drives are more complex to replace than normal desktop. You need to
know how this slim drive is set up (Master?Slave/Cable Select) and check how
the "old" one was set up.

For more info/help, you should check on www.rpc1.org.
