Disconnects when trying to send/receive messages

Every time I click on the send/receive button to retrieve more messages, it
disconnects me from the Internet. It just started doing this today. I was
able to receive messages Friday. I am trying to move all my messages from
www.yahoo.com to Windows Mail to get a local copy of my emails so I can
change web hosting servers. I turned on SSL for both incoming and outgoing
mail servers as suggested in another post. Still the same problem. I turned
off the AV filter as suggested again in another post, but I still have the
same problem. I can browse and even log into Yahoo's mail software using the
same account with no problems.

I fail to see the connection between changing web hosting servers and
needing to move your messages from www.yahoo.com (you probably
mean http://mail.yahoo.com).

Also, be aware that by default, downloading messages into Windows Mail
will remove those messages from the server, so they are no longer
accessible via your web browser.

What mail account do you have set up in Windows Mail?

To remedy your disconnect problem, in Windows Mail go to Tools,
Accounts, select your mail account, Properties, Connection.
What does it show for connection?
You must either leave that unselected (in which case WM will use whatever
connection IE uses), or else select the Local Area Network.

Also, under Tools, Options, Connection, the first box should be checked,
and the second box unchecked.

If all that checks out, but you still have the problem, the account may be corrupted.
Delete the account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate the account.
