Disconnecting Remote connection

I am 'playing around' with Remote Connection at the moment and notice
that when I disconnect a session from a PC the User/Password login
screen appears on the Remote PC (I know this as I'm connecting to the
PC beside me), yet I have "Auto login" applied on this PC

Is there anyway to "Auto Login" after a Remote session has ended? I
assume that it logs off in the first instance to allow a connection to
be made using the same user name.

Secondly, if a user logs in to the Remote while a connection is active
this will log out the remote party, is there anyway to stop this
happening?

Thanks

AFAIK, the answer is "no" to both questions.

If you disconnect (rather than log off), you are logged off. But as to
returning it to the welcome screen, or logging in the previous session, then
no.

Using different logins? Yes - don't put the remote user (or any user!) in
the local administrators group, or allow anyone to know someone else's
password. Only an admin can log out the currently logged-in user and hence
log in him/herself.

Using the same login? Well, my first question would be, why are people
sharing a login....and then, the answer would be, no.

Pegasus thanks for your reply

Is it possible to re-boot the remote PC while your connected? All I can
see is "Log off" and Disconnect.

I currently use pcAnywhere to transfer files using scheduled tasks, is
this feature available within Remote Connection or is that a step too
far?

Press Ctrl+Alt+End to see the full set of options.

File transfer is conditionally available under Remote
Desktop, depending on the host's operating system
(which you did not mention).

Please do not delete earlier parts of this discussion.
It makes it much harder checking what was said.

Yes, but not from a start menu option. Try Start->Run->cmd. At the command
prompt window, type: shutdown -f -r -t 00. This command will force apps to
close (-f), then restart (-r) in 00 seconds (-t 00). If you want to shutdown
the machine instead of restarting it, replace the -r switch with -s. If you
use a non-zero (xx) value following the -t switch, a warning window will
appear on the remote machine that the machine will be shutdown in xx seconds.
NOTE: if you change your mind about shutting down or restarting the machine
within the xx second count-down, simply open a second command prompt window
and type: shutdown -a to abort the shutdown in progress......

Let us know if you get it to work.
