disconnecting from the internet

MSN 9 on my Windows ME computer at home. When I sign-off
the internet, there is a time delay in disconnecting. How
can I remedy the situation. I didn't not have the problem
until a few weeks ago.
 
What is the time delay? If it is only a few seconds, there is not much to
worry about. If you like, perform a system restore back to the date you had
the connection working correctly.
