I have a Dell Deminsion 4600 with Windows XP. I have
formatted Sony disc to file information in my CD-RW.
However, I purchased a box Memorex CD-RW disc and can't
format them. Please tell me why Memorex disc will not
work on my computer. Is there certain brands of disc
that I should use or should my computer support all CD-RW
disc. Please give me any information that will help.

What kind of cd are you trying to burn, music, data, or "floppy" cd?
You do not need to format cd-r or cd-rw disks to make music or data cds. Any
brand will work.
If you want to use the cd-rw disk like a giant floppy disk then you need
some software that does packet writing, like ezcd creator or nero. XP's
burning software doesn't do packet writing.

Hi Shables,

What software are you trying to use to format? With XP's native software,
there is no need to format a CD-RW and there is no option to do so. You
should be able to use any brand of RW whether you are using XP's native or
some packet writing software.
