the dvd r/rw drive in my computer has stopped working. If i try to burn a cd
with media player it says no cd or dvd burner has been detected and if i put
a disc in it nothing happens. I've tried reinstalling drivers but i'm not
sure which it uses.

help would be greatly appreciated

Does it show up in device manager and/or computer management? Open control
panel | admin tools | computer management | disk management and see if the
drive is listed. Put a disc in the drive and see if the drive can see the
disc. Try with a normal cdrom disc, the type you get with computer magazines
if you have one lying around. Do you hear the disc spin up when you put it
in the drive?

I checked the device manager and it does NOT show up and when i put a disc in
it does not spin. It is a Maxtor 6L160P0 drive version 5.1.2535.0 if that is
any help. Also, i think it may just be the driver (i may be wrong) that needs
to be reinstalled or something like that.

Thanks,

Robbie

Disregard the maxtor bit in my last post, it is infact a Philips DVDR1628P1.
And i checked the device status: "Windows cannot load the device driver for
this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" Im not sure
how to resolve this as i have not heard this before.

Thanks,

Robbie
