Disappearing USB's

I have a 3 year old computer. Recently all of the USB ports
(printer,ipod,backup HD, etc) disappeared nd my computer doesn't find them.
I have tried reinstaling the drivers that came with the devices and also from
the appropriate web sites. Still no luck.

It's very likely that your hardware connectors on the motherboard are broken.
What you can do about fixing them is dependant on what type system you have.
A good computer shop could probably replace them.
Again, dependant on the type of system, there are 'add-on USB devices you
can buy. A laptop, for example, could have a PCMCIA card with a USB
connection.
