Disappearing picture files

I have run into a problem recently when sending emails (Microsoft Word is my
e-mail editor in Outlook) that contain pictures (GIF, TIFF, JPEG, etc.). The
pictures disappear on the other end.

This is something that has never happened before. I have been doing this for
many years. But now there is nothing but blank space where the GIF files,
for instance, should be.

What settings am I my messing up? What am I missing?

I have Microsoft 2000. I have to copy the animated .gif from Microsoft
ClipArt, paste it into my Microsoft ClipOrganizer, then insert it.
Otherwise, it comes out as an attachment, doesn't show up, etc. If I do it
this way, it shows up both in the email I'm creating as well as on the
receiver side. Make sure you are in HTML format.
