Disabling XP Zip program

If I install another zip program similar to WinZip, do I need to turn off
the existing zip program that is included with XP Pro or can I just assign
the zip files to the new program and leave the XP zip alone? I hate to take
it out if I don't have to.

Thanks in advance,
Carolyn

Run the following command from the Run... line:
regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll

If you ever want to re-enable the support, use:
regsvr32 zipfldr.dll

No, not at all. If you install WinZip or another program to unzip files
just make sure it take the file assication. (winzip will do it for you)

You can leave it on, so you see the zip files' as if they were folders.
Note that this then retains search looking in them and cab files for
anything you look for - many people find this takes too much time, and
want to disable it for that reason. So try and see: it is easy to
switch by Start - Run and run
regsvr32.exe /u zipfldr.dll
to disable: same without the /u to re-enable
