Disabling Security Center - Domain Wide

Could anyone give me some help on trying to disable The security center in
WinXP-sp2 on a Domain-wide scale? I figure that is is gonna be a GPO, but
beyond that, I got no clue. It is a Win2K3 Ent. Domain, with WinXp-sp2
clients. I use Enterprise level AV software, Enterprise Level Hardware and
Software Firewalls, and Run SUS. I push all updates to the domain after
approval.
I don't NEED the Security Center running, and it is causing conflicts with
client programs! HELP!

Hi,

Check you setting under the policy "Turn on Security Center (Domain
PC's only)" found at:

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates
\Windows Components\Security Center\

When set to "Not Configured" (default) or "Disabled", the Security
Center is turned off.

Thanks Torgeir, that helps with the domain issue! However, in the same vein,
is there a registry key to disable it on a local machine that isn't joined to
the domain yet? (before the GPO can affect it)

Hi,

You can disable and stop the service all together with the following
commands:

%SystemRoot%\system32\sc.exe config wscsvc start= disabled
%SystemRoot%\system32\net.exe stop wscsvc

(there is supposed to be a space behind start= )
