Hi friends,

I am using WinXP Pro edition. Sometime ago while I was using System
Mechanic, I selected "Use explorer when opening My Computer" and made it
permanent. By this option everytime I click on My Computer or a folder, it
always have Folder view enabled like Windows Explorer. After I realized that
even I selected Control Panel this silly folder view came by default, I
tried to restore my previous settings. But I could not succeed even after I
used System Mechanic itself.

I believe that there is some string in registry related with this setting.
Can anyone help me getting rid of this setting? Any information will be
appreciated.

Thanks.

Kartal,

Apply the fild 290 (single pane) from Kelly's site:

Control Panel - System - Advanced - in Performance click Settings -
In the Custom panel of Visual effects, uncheck 'Use Common tasks in
folders'.

Note that this will remove the side panel everywhere - including in a My
Computer view of a folder, where previews of files may be shown
