can you assist me on how go to file sharing and then click onto disable. I was told to click start, go to help tyhpe file sharing in the index tab and click onto disable. I find it impossible to be able to disable file sharing. I have Windows XP. Is there another way to do this?
Thank

Right click the file/folder and select Sharing/Security. This will take you to the Sharing tab. You can select the share name from the pull down list of shares for that drive/file/folder and click Remove Share.

For XP Pro, you may need to disable Simple File Sharing. In Windows Explorer, go to Tools, Folder Options, View tab and scroll down.

For XP Home, you may only be able to see the full Sharing tab in Safe Mode.

You can also use the command line tool NET SHARE Open a Command Prompt window and type in NET SHARE /? for the list of command line options.
