While I'm not really a computer dummy, I've read some of the
instructions for disabling AutoRun and they look daunting.

Can someone tell me where to find 'easy' instructions?

I've received a warning email about the Conflicker worm and this is
one of the things it says to do.

That depends on which flavor of XP you are using (Home, Pro, or MCE).

Glad to hear you are taking the necessary precautions. :-) Also make
sure you have the latest Windows security patches installed.

For AutoPlay:
Try Power Toy's Tweak UI from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
Install, run and expand as follows: 'My Computer', 'Auto Play', 'Types'
check the option to enable/disable this feature for removable drives.

Disable CD AutoRun for Home or Pro:
From Kelly's Korner: (Line 3, right hand column)

Enable: see line 364, left hand column
