disable windows update

[msnews.microsoft.com]

w2k server box.

I have disabled (unchecked) auto updates, yet my packet capture programs
shows system still contacts MS updates and downloads. How do I find out
what service/pgm/etc is initiating this and disable?

Start|Run|services.msc and set the 'Automatic Updates' service startup type
to 'Disabled'
