Disable keyboard shortcuts

Need some serious help....

My wife types - you know properly -
without looking at the keys!

However she will occasionally erroneously use
the Cntl key rather than the shift key and
a few keystrokes later the two pages she has
just type in to an email have gone... zappo...
no way back.

Obviously this is MY fault as you can imagine...

So - question is - how do I disable ALL
keyboard shortcuts... she uses non of them...
so she will not miss them..

Any help would be most appreciated.

Using XP, Outlook Express 6, Office 2002.

Thanks,
Roy

Sounds like typical married logic. Last night I got blamed for a usb
keyboard that went bad. Since that of course, was my fault I of course,
had to give up mine.

Yes - however we have lasted 35 years
and still going strong - so not all bad... :)

Any thoughts on how to disable
ALL keyboard shortcuts?

Thanks,
Roy

That's because you understand that when the water heater, etc. breaks
its your fault :)

Never considered it.

Disabling "All shortcuts" is difficult because many of them are
generated within individual programs. But you can disable caps lock
with this registry patch - be sure to run regedit.exe first and export
the key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout

so you could re-import it if there are side effects

Make the following, after - - start and before - - end into a file by
cut/paste to NotePad. Don't let lines wrap around: [HKEY through
Layout] is one line, the next, starting "Scancode Map"=, will probably
break at the space, and ends with 3a,00,\

Make sure there is a blank line at the end. Save as "Patch.reg" then
right-click on this file and take Merge to enter it into the registry.

- - start
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
"Scancode
Map"=hex:18,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,02,00,00,00,00,00,3a,00,\
00,00,00,00

- - end

Alex,
Many thanks for your response....

Yes - I understand it's difficult !!!! Hence my post :)

I wonder what my wife could have accidentally hit...

She had just typed a very long email in Outlook Express
and then, suddenly, the email dissapeared and she had
two or three character in a newly opened Notepad!

As you can imagine it was obviously my fault and everyone
who had anything to do with computers, from Babage to
Gates was in severe danger... Just lucky they didn't show
up at that moment.

Any idea what shortcuts might be good to target?

Many thanks,
Roy
