Disable Automatic Folder Refresh

I have a folder often refreshing automatically when it is activated. Is there
a way to disbale this? I may be in a particular part of the folder with a lot
of files in it and will have to find where I was again when I return to the
folder because it was refreshed. It doesn't seem to always happen which is
puzzling. Running Windows XP 2002 Service Pack 3. Thank you.

Hello,

Thanks for providing the useful registry fixes. Just a minor issue, some of
the links are hard to read. Using IE7 here, at lines 389 and lines 400 and
above, the links are dark blue in colour making it hard to make out the text
with the black background forcing me to highlight it to read the text.

You can fix this by adding the following before the </STYLE> tag at that
page:
a:active { color: #CCCCCC;}
a:hover { color: #CCCCCC;}
a:link { color: #FFFFFF;}
a:visited { color: #CCCCCC;}

With that CSS, all links will show white and change to light grey on click,
hover or if already visited.

I spoke too soon. I ran the link from line 157 (157. Prevent Automatic Folder
and Icon Refresh - Enable) but it ultimately is doing the same thing which I
noticed after my last post. I can't put my finger on exactly what is
triggering the refresh but if I leave windows explorer and activate another
application and come back it is refreshed. Sometimes if I edit the address
bar it refreshes on me spontaneously. Do you suppose that I may need run
these lines below? Thank you.

204. Force Auto Refresh - Undo
or
319. End/Refresh Process on Explorer.Exe

Thank you Kelly. It appears to be working at this point.

It's a shared computer in that two other computers access it every so often
through a peer to peer network. The folder doesn't have the shared hand or
anything but it's not restricted that I can tell. The folder has 8.7 GB of
files on it if that matters. Thanks for your continued help. I'm running XP
Professional 5.1.2600 SP 3 build 2600.
