DirectX

Hi

I need some advive regarding DirectX. I currently have
directX V8.1 installed. Is it advisable to upgrade this
to the newer version V 9.

I do not use my computer for playing games.

It'll not make a perceptible difference unless your graphics card supports
DirectX 9. However some bugs in v8.1 have been fixed in v9.

If you use your machine for multimedia (like watching DVDs, videos or
playing music) I would update to DX9. If you dont use it for anything other
than surfing than you should be fine with DX8

Hi Joseph,

Thank you for your reply. I do play CD's on the computer.
I have also experienced video card problems even though I
have downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia. Would
updating the Direcxt X anve any effect on the video card.
Nvidia Geforce4MX 440?

It shouldnt have an effect, no. It will update the DX side of things
(DDRAW, D3D, etc) so make sure you have the latest video driver installed on
the machine as well.
