DirectX Problems

Christina

I've been playing this MMORPG game called "DarkAges" It's
always worked perfectly fine, with no problems, but
starting a few weeks ago, when I try to load up the game,
the screen is garbled, there are lines kinda going up and
down, and cant see what I'm doing,

I've updated drivers, re-installed the game, drivers,
adjusted every setting I could think of, but nothing
works, I emailed the company who owns that game, but they
cant help,

I did some directx err...whats the
word... "Diagnostic" thing, and whenever it gets to the
last stages of the directdraw/direct3d test, the same
thing happens that does when i load up this game so i
tried disabling directdraw, or adjusting the frequency
rate etc, nothing has helped =<

I tried to get a screenshot of the way the screen looks
when i try to play, but the moment i paste it in a paint
program, the screenshot looks perfectly fine o.O yet
doesnt when i actually go to play the game!

could someone please help me with this? I've done
all i could think of doing, i've re-installed/updated
everything possible, and I can't think of anymore settings
to adjust, I'd be most grateful if someone could =s

Hi Christina,

Since this problem started suddenly for you, and you experience
the same issue when you run dxdiag (and I presume it also occurs
when you try playing other 3D games), then you should look at a
possible problem with your video card hardware, the video cable,
or the monitor may be causing that due to hardware issues.

The simplest way to test for hardware issues is to try your video
card and monitor on another computer, or try someone else's on
your computer. Just swapping those units out might correct the
issue if it's being caused by dirty contacts, dust, etc., in the case.
