Directx need help ASAP

i recently bought C&C Generals and it wont work because
i have directx 9. one of my drivers for direct 3d wont
work on versoin 9. is there any way i can revert back to
version 8????? can i uninstall version 9 or soemthing.
pls help.

DirectX 9.0 is a system component and cannot be uninstalled.
In rare cases, some software titles are "version coded" to accept
only a single version of DirectX. These titles are almost always
updated by the software publisher to fix this behavior. Check
with the website of the publisher of your software for an update.

If you created a restore point prior to installing directX , you can revert.
Some sites offer help and utilities on how to uninstall and revert back. You
will need the windows xp cd. Do a search for "uninstall directX."
Use at your own risk.
