DirectX 9 installation

I am having trouble installing DirectX 9. I need this
version to play Sims2. When it gets to the installation
components phase, an error window comes up which says, A
cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be
trusted. The only thing I can do is click OK and then I
get another window that says installation failed. How
can I install this version to play Sims2?

The same problem has happened to me and i still have no

solution. Do you know how to fix this problem yet? I
would be extremely grateful for any help.

Do you have Cryptographic Services set to automatic
in Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services?

Hi,

I just installed SP 2 via Windows Updates and that
upgraded my DirectX version to 9.0c. Give that a try.

In addition to what Jimmy has suggested, I would recommend if you have
further issues you should post in one of the DirectX newsgroups which are
specific to the program. This newsgroup is not for DirectX support, while
the others can certainly be of assistance.
