well, I don't think much of the messenger (the website you led us too) but
it isn't clear why you would not install.

Im not sure if it will work and I dont need to experiment since I dont care

I'm not sure what you point is, I dual boot, So I'm not locked in Vista. I
only started playing with Vista, because I want to do DX10 games, namely
Crysis, with maybe some Bioshock and Hellgate London thrown in. I didn't
start using XP until 2004 because 2000 worked just fine for me and if it
wasn't for DX10 I wouldn't be fiddling with Vista now.

But since at this moment, it's my only option, I figured I would start
fiddling with it now to get a handle on all the little quirks it has. If
this project actually works out and I can reliable and accpetable DX10
performance under XP. Outside of DX10, Vista doesn't offer me anything that
I really care about

dont kill the messenger.. im just posting an article I found.. I probably
will not install this on xp anyway!

Wow, that was great! I installed it and downloaded an Nvidia DX10 demo then
ran it. The lovely BSOD that followed was beautiful!

Good thing I don't play games on this machine. I doubt DX10 sitting there
will affect me much.

They obviously have a LONG way to go. I'm guessing even if they beef this
up a bit, it'll still run like crap compared to Vista.

DX10 is not a requirement for any of the games you have listed, they will
all play on DX9/XP. In fact, I suspect it will be a long time before any
developer (outside of MS at least) makes a DX10/Vista only game as they'll
be cutting out a huge chunk of their potential market. That said, I am
still glad to this project come to light because I see MS making DX10 only
available on Vista as a marketing ploy to try and entice people to upgrade
(I'm sure some MS/Vista fans will bring up that it impossible to bring DX10
to XP because of their new driver model but until I see concrete evidence of
a reason I think it's a load of crock. MS has been known to pull similar
stunts, like releasing some of it's games as XP only, even though with a few
tricks you can get them to run on Win2k).

I understand DX10 is not a requirement for those titles, but if the visuals
are better and\or performance is better, then I want to play it with those
advance visuals\performance. I don't need a $400-600 video card to play any
game out today. I could get a $100 card and set everthing to low and play
it, but what's the point of that ?

I don't see anyone making a DX10 only game for a while either. Hopefully by
then, some really smart people will have made a wrapper or something to get
DX10 to work "well" under XP. Until then, I'll have to keep Vista around.
Sure glad I'm not a Halo fan, those guys got punk'd by the "Vista only"
requirement for Halo 2

Why are you guys hung up on DX10 "ONLY"? There will be plenty of games that
support both and are full blown DX10 implementations. Crysis will more then
likely be the first one:

DX10 FTW!!!!

Even newer Nvidia drivers were released. Seems they fixed the install issue
with a DLL that caused some trouble. Not sure what else is new but still no
DX10 SLI. Plus the drivers came down the Windows Update pipe.

I'm not hung up on DX10 only. I know it will be 2 years or so before we see
a DX10 only game, just like it's taken a while to see DX 9.0 only games.
