Directory wont erase - not empty

I have a directory on XP PRO that is "empty" when viewed by the explorer, but XP
will not let me remove it under the GUI or CMD in safe mode.

When defrag runs it tells me theres like 2MB, about 5-6 files, in the directory
and can not defrag them.

Any pointers on how to correct this.

in explorer, tools/folder options/view
check "show hidden files and folder" and uncheck
"hide protected operating system files"

If it still doesn't reveal the contents, use a command prompt,
navigate to the folder and type DIR /AH to see the hidden files.
