No safe mode?

When i go to safe mode on xp pro all it does is give me a directories list, and it wont let me do anything. How do i make safe mode work

Hello,
Hmm not sure what you are seeing? What directories are listed?
When you go into Safe Mode, where are you in the boot process?
You hit the F8 and you should see the Safe Mode Options.
after you make your selection, you are asked which Operating System you
want to boot into.
You make your selection and then the boot process takes place.
You should boot to a logon screen.
Are you failing during this process if so where in the process?
What options are you choosing during this process?
