I just had installed Windows 2000 (I use to have
WindowsME) and I cannot write/save on my CD writer. The
Adaptec DirectCD wizard is on my Start button, but an
application error window pops us when I try to save data
even with a new CD.

Same problem I'm having. When I try to format a CDR disc
I get the following error message: "Device is reserved by
other process. (0x8000001a) You will not be able to read
and write to the disc through drive letter access." Hope
someone can help.

I found the solution to my problem in Roxio.com's
Knowledgebase at http://ask.adaptec.com/cgi-
bin/roxio_tic.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2268 and
it may help you as well. It seems Windows Media Player
stomps all over your previous installation of the Adaptec
software but doesn't warn you about it nor do they offer a
solution in their knowledgebase.
